RHS may affect both immunocompetent immunocompromised patient. Clinical manifestation include herpes zoster oticus that manifest as vesicular rash on auricular area or oral mucosa combination with peripheral nerve palsy. We reported 67-years-old female patient herpetic vesicle left side face ear accompanied ipsilateral paralysis since 2 days before admission. Patient was treated acyclovir for 5 days. Follow up examination showed satisfying clinical improvement disappearance vesicles otalgia, well weakness from House Brackmann grade III II. Early recognition treatment crucial delay sequelae, including postherpetic neuralgia permanent paralysis.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) is characterized by facial paralysis, inner ear dysfunction, periauricular pain, and herpetiform vesicles. The reported incidence in children is 2.7/100,000. The pathogenesis involves the reactivation of latent varicella zoster virus (VZV) in the geniculate ganglion of the facial nerve. The recovery rate is better in children than in adults. This paper discusses a 12-...
